As the countdown begins, excitement is building for Zimbabwe’s national women’s rugby team, the Lady Sables. They are going for the kill, set to compete in a highly anticipated tournament in Tunisia from 1 May to 10 May. We are with the team together in their journey toward the upcoming Africa Cup – Tunisia — and the team is leaving nothing to chance.

Over the past few months, the Lady Sables have shown incredible dedication, pushing their limits both physically and mentally. Training sessions have been intense, disciplined, and fueled by a shared passion to represent their nation with pride. From morning drills to late afternoon conditioning, every player has committed wholeheartedly to the badge they wear. The Team is is racing out in preparation for the final team selection. The team is also expecting some foreign based players to come in in the next couple of weeks to be part of the selection, with players in Matebeleland, some in South Africa.

Coaches have emphasized not just skill and strategy, but unity and resilience—qualities that define this team. The bond among the players has grown stronger with each session, forming a foundation that will be vital as they face tough opposition on the continental stage. Progress has been constant, there is sure growth in the strength of the team. To note, the team has been growing and gaining interest and has been fed with potential young athletes, some being selected from the Junior Sables U18 teams which participate in South Africa for the Girls Week Tournaments.

Heading into Tunisia, the Lady Sables are not just participants—they are contenders fighting for the win. The tournament offers a valuable opportunity to test combinations, sharpen tactics, and show what the Lady Sables have at Africa Cup. Every match will be a chance to showcase their growth, determination, and the fighting spirit that Zimbabwean rugby is known for. A special mention is also to be given to suppliers of water for the ladies for the training Session, Ganzim water, and Gateway High School for the Venue.
